The Nitty Gritty

The Nitty Gritty

So enough about us and introductions. Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty! What is hemp? Is it marijuana? Is it legal? What about CBD?
Hemp and marijuana are actually the same species, cannabis. It’s kinda like two siblings that come from the same parents. They are related but have different personalities and qualities. The basic definition of hemp (one of the siblings) is that it is a part of the cannabis plant that has anywhere from ZERO to .3% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Marijuana (a different sibling), however, has more than .3% THC.
The Farm Bill of 2018 made it federally legal to grow hemp that contains less than .3% It also made hemp-derived CBD products federally legal as well.
So what is CBD (our favorite product)? CBD stands for Cannabidiol. CBD is one component found in the cannabis plant.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is another component found in the cannabis plant. THC is probably the most well-known and is the one that can cause a “high” due to its psychoactive properties.
Next to THC, CBD is the most abundant compound found in the cannabis plant.
CBD however, has ZERO psychoactive properties. This is why it is our fav! The great thing about CBD is you can still receive some of the beneficial properties found in THC but without the “stoned” feeling.
Another thing to know about CBD is that it comes in several variations so to speak - those being full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, and CBD isolate. The main difference between these is the naturally occurring plant compounds within the extract.
Full-spectrum CBD contains all of the cannabinoids, terpenes, and the minute amount of THC. Broad spectrum contains the cannabinoids and terpenes found in full-spectrum but with ZERO THC. The CBD isolate contains only CBD without any of the other compounds.
Of course, all of our hemp products are under the legal limit of .3% THC some having 0%. We have QR codes on every package that take you directly to the lab analysis reports.
